Record-Breaking: Visakhapatnam Port Handles 50 MMT Cargo Volume in 2023-24

The Visakhapatnam Port Authority has achieved a remarkable feat, handling 50 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in a mere 228 days during the fiscal year 2023-24.

The port has achieved a new milestone by surpassing its previous handling record of 50 MMT in 251 days, as recorded in the Financial Year 2022-23.

Port Secretary T. Venu Gopal attributed this accomplishment to the dedicated efforts of VPA’s staff, PPP operators, and all stakeholders.

Dr. M. Angamuthu, VPA Chairperson, specifically commended Traffic Manager Mr. B. Ratna Sekhar Rao and his team for their remarkable hard work. He also acknowledged the contributions of VPA officers, employees, staff, and PPP operators/stakeholders. Dr. Angamuthu advised them to maintain this momentum to achieve the target of 83 MMTPA for the year 2023-24 set by the Ministry (PSW).

This record-setting achievement marks a significant milestone in VPA’s journey. The VPA management expressed gratitude for the support received over the years and expressed a commitment to maintaining this positive momentum going forward.
